How getting free gifts work!
So you're probably wondering how these companies can afford to give away free gifts, and you're probably a bit skeptical about the idea, just like I was, just like anyone else would be when they first saw this new kind of 'affiliated marketing'.
When you complete an offer on the freebie website, the freebie website then gets comission, or paid, for referring them a potential customer, then when you refer a friend and then they complete an offer, the freebie company gets paid even more money which goes towards paying for your gift, and then the freebie website also keeps a little cut of the money as a profit.
So lets say you want a Free iPod Shuffle that's worth around £40, say you completed an offer that paid the freebie website £20 and you had to refer 2 people to get the item, the freebie website would be getting paid £60 all in all from the affiliated companies, then the freebie website would be taking around £20 profit from you getting your free gift.
Or if you wanted to get a Free Wii, they cost around £180 in the shops, and if each referral was worth £20, it would take 9 referrals to make up £180 to pay for the free gift!
If you can't manage to get enough referrals for the gift you want, you can get a 'custom order' which could be another gift off a site like Amazon.co.uk, or they can just set up a bank transfer, or send you a cheque in the post.
Everybody is a winner!
So hopefully that's the doubts on how the companies afford to send you out free gifts out the way!
